Hello, my name is Heather Leggett. I’m basically just a big goofball at heart (see above photo, haha). My photography journey started when I was very young. I grew up with five brothers and a family that wasn’t that into taking pictures. We had one album that covered most of mine and my brothers’ childhoods and even that ended up getting damaged in a house fire when I was 14. It always bothered me that my parents didn’t take more photographs, because to me every day seemed like a time to make a memory and savor the experiences of our lives. So I decided to take over being the family photographer. At 11 years old I bought my first camera with my own money I’d saved and I have been taking pictures ever since. It makes me happy that my younger brothers have some childhood photos to look back on and share with their friends and family and ultimately pass on to their children.
Now that I’m a mother of four, I love taking pictures of my own children. I want to capture every moment of their childhood so they can have lots of memories to look back on as they get older and someday share with their children.
Being a photographer is such a joy. I love being able to peek into your life and capture a little bit of what makes you and your family unique and special and preserve your memories for you to look back on with your children for years to come.
My style is candid and relaxed. I use only Canon professional equipment and lenses as well as natural light for a more natural look and feel to your photographs. I prefer shooting at outdoor locations or in your home, catching those moments of you and your family playing and having fun doing what you love. If you don’t have particular locations in mind I would be happy to suggest some. For children I don’t do a lot of posing and postioning. I prefer to follow them around as they play and interact with you and each other and capture those moments for you as they happen.

Hi Heather!
Followed the link to your blog which is very nice. Keep up the great work! I have a very similar way of going about photography as well (though I do have a hotshoe but don’t know how to use it! And I do have the nifty fifty like you and love it!). With our wedding photographer, we told him we wanted no posed, portrait, you stand here and you there, types of shots. All candid.
I am very impressed by your work!
John
Thanks so much for the compliments John! Great to hear from you!
